Monitor for fresh oil on tires or brake backing plates. Fluid on brake components compromises friction surfaces. This creates a secondary safety hazard. Lubricant starvation causes low-frequency hums or rhythmic growls. These sounds indicate bearing damage. Seal replacement is inexpensive. Replacing a complete differential assembly is not.
